In an alternate 2366, Genovese's Star was marked on a tactical situation monitor showing the fleet deployments in the Federation-Klingon War. (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise" display graphic)
The tactical situation map depicted an area of space in the Alpha Quadrant. The locations Eminiar, Janus VI, Rigel, Andor, Babel, and Delta Vega were identified on "The Explored Galaxy" wall chart as being located in this quadrant.
It was likely named for production staff associate Cosmo Genovese.
