Gary Wright (born ca. 1938; age ~86) is a former actor who appeared in several episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series during the second and third season. He received no credit for his appearances.

Wright was also mentioned in a program guide for playing a Vulcan litter bearer in the episode "Amok Time" though he cannot be identified.

Biography[]

Wright attended South Gate High School in South Gate, California during the mid-1950s.

His first known, pre-Star Trek background role was in an episode of Get Smart (1967, with Dick Cherney, Shep Houghton, Alan Marston, and Edwin Rochelle).

Following his appearances on Star Trek, he appeared in the film Pendulum (1969; with Marj Dusay, Stewart Moss, Logan Ramsey, Benjie Bancroft, Monty O'Grady, Bill Quinn, Frieda Rentie, and Sally Yarnell).

He later appeared as a police officer in six episodes of Columbo (1971-1976, with Leonard Nimoy, David Armstrong, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, Noble Chissell, Bob Harks, Monty O'Grady, Benjie Bancroft, Robert Hitchcock, Shep Houghton, Arthur Tovey, Ed McCready, Betty McGuire, Victor Toyota, Nehemiah Persoff, and John Hugh McKnight).

During the same period, he played a background actor in the science fiction sequel Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972, with Ricardo Montalban, Lou Wagner, Paul Comi, Tony Dante, Peter Eastman, Bob Harks, Monty O'Grady, and Walter Smith), and he played the day helmsman of the namesake vessel in the action drama The Poseidon Adventure (1972, with Phil Adams, Bill Catching, Dick Durock, Bob Harks, John Hugh McKnight, Monty O'Grady, Frieda Rentie, Elizabeth Rogers, George Sawaya, David Sharpe, Paul Stader, and Tom Steele) [1], and he also appeared in Banacek (1972, with Louise Sorel, Ned Romero, Kermit Murdock, Peter Brocco, Adele Yoshioka, Bob Harks, Robert Hitchcock, and Monty O'Grady).

Wright later had a recurring background role as a detective in four episodes of Kojak (1974-1975, with Tom Anfinsen, Mark Russell, Harris Yulin, John Aniston, Charles Dierkop, Tony Dante, and Joanna Miles), which overlapped with his featured role as a cop in the action thriller Foxy Brown (1974, with Sid Haig and Bob Minor), the action thriller The Towering Inferno (1974, with Gregory Sierra, Elizabeth Rogers, Paul Comi, David Armstrong, Buzz Barbee, John Blower, Peter Paul Eastman, Robert Hitchcock, Steve Marlo, John Hugh McKnight, John Moio, Robert Strong, and Vic Toyota), the thriller Lipstick (1976, with Chris Sarandon, Meg Wyllie, Bill Zuckert, Robin Gammell, and Monty O'Grady), and the crime comedy Harry and Walter Go to New York (1976, with Bert Remsen, Ted Cassidy, Christopher Rydell, Seamon Glass, Benjie Bancroft, Buzz Barbee, Peter Paul Eastman, Bob Harks, Lars Hensen, and Robert Hitchcock).
