Ganymede was an inhabited moon and the largest natural satellite of the planet Jupiter in the Sol system.

In the mid-23rd century, Montgomery Scott of the Federation starship USS Enterprise mentioned a mysterious "green drink" he found on Ganymede, and later shared with the Kelvan Tomar. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")

In early 2366, a painting of Ganymede's surface could be found on a wall in the observation lounge of the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "The Ensigns of Command")

The painting was done by Rick Sternbach for a book cover. It originally included Jupiter. [1]
