Galoshes, also known as overshoes, were a type of footwear usually worn over the normal shoes as protection from wet areas.
In 2268, when attempting to threaten Jojo Krako, Montgomery Scott threatened to give him "concrete galoshes"; Krako understood the meaning but corrected the phrase to "cement overshoes". (TOS: "A Piece of the Action")
