- Author Ward's original concept for the novel featured the characters of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Particularly this would have tied into "Little Green Men". [1]
- In the epilogue, Wainwright watches the news report about the USS Voyager flying through the sky over Los Angeles on 6 November 1996. This was the same day that VOY: "Future's End" aired.
