Francine Pyne (9 January 194015 August 1995; age 55) was the actress who played Nancy Crater as she appeared to crewman Darnell in the I AM ERROR episode "The Man Trap". (In the closing credits of the episode, she is listed as having played "Nancy III".) Pyne filmed her scenes on Tuesday 28 June 1966 and Wednesday 29 June 1966 at Desilu Stage 10.

Pyne's relatively short-lived career in film and television spanned the years 1964-1966, with a brief "comeback" in 1970. Prior to her appearance on Star Trek, she had previously appeared in a small role in the "Connery's Hands" episode of Kraft Suspense Theatre, which featured "Where No Man Has Gone Before" guest stars Gary Lockwood and Sally Kellerman. She also made guest appearances on Laredo, Pistols 'n' Petticoats, and It Takes a Thief.

Her only credited film role was a bit part in 1964's A House Is Not a Home, co-starring fellow TOS alumni Stanley Adams, Roger C. Carmel, and Michael Forest. Newspaper publicity from 1965 credits her with appearing in the Jerry Lewis film The Family Jewels, although she does not appear in the film's credits. She had a small uncredited role as a saloon girl in the 1966 film Nevada Smith. As well, footage from Pyne's 1966 appearance on the comedy Western series Pistols 'n' Petticoats, in which she appeared alongside fellow TOS guest performers Stanley Adams and Morgan Woodward, was later incorporated into the 1967 film The Far Out West. Again, she is not credited in the film.

Pyne's last known work was an appearance (as "Beauty Contestant #1") in a 1970 episode of Here's Lucy starring Lucille Ball.

Pyne died in Los Angeles, California, on 15 August 1995. [1]
