Hello. I was wondering whether or not there is a standard size for an image, or a maximum size. I wonder this because many images I submit are downsized to about 800x600 pixels. Will someone plese respond quickly? Thanks in advance. -- Nmajmani 01:28, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Nmajmani
- Typically, the images I upload are around 800x600 pixels. - V. Adm. Enzo Aquarius...I'm listening 01:30, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- The standard size for images displayed in thumbnails is 180px by default. The 800x600 thing is the max they will display as on the image description page, but the full size image is still there. For images larger than 800x600, you simply click on the image in the description page to see it full size. These are all settings you can change in your individual preferences. Hope that helps. --OuroborosCobra talk 01:31, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I usually upload 1066x800. These are removed and replaced with 800x600. I just wondered whether or not I should just upload the later size first. Is it kind of a MA standard? -- Nmajmani 01:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Nmajmani
- I mentioned this already once today, but there is no reason to upload a DVD screenshot that is more than 720x480. All the Trek DVDs are encoded in 720x480 or maybe x576 if you have the PAL versions, but I am not sure about that. The point is that images greater than that size are stretched versions and contain no more information than is in the same shot at 720x480, so it is a waste of space to upload such large screencaps. It is a further waste because that extra space could instead be used to keep the compression ratio low, and preserve the best quality. restrictions like 800x600 make no sense, but a 1066x800 screencap is just absurd. --Bp 01:44, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
