Not to criticise, I was surprised not to see Neil Armstrong's death mentioned on the "latest news" section of front page. After all, this is a "historical figure" that has been mentioned multiple times in canon. I guess it's the first time something like this has come up, at least as far as I can remember, but would the fact that Armstrong's role in history was acknowledged in Star Trek not Merritt an obituary? -- Capricorn (talk) 15:58, August 26, 2012 (UTC)
- I think that his death has been widely reported enough that we don't need to mention it here, since he was not Trek staff or a Trek performer; he was only mentioned as a historical figure. Just my two cents. 31dot (talk) 01:52, August 27, 2012 (UTC)
You might be right, the point I was trying to make is a technical one: by being mentioned in Star Trek, he is part of the Star Trek universe. We mention actors dying, even those famous enough that their deaths would be widely reported, so why not mention characters. But that's just my two cents too. -- Capricorn (talk) 06:59, August 27, 2012 (UTC)
