I am having a fight with my boyfriend about love within the Voyager Crew. Has there ever been a mention of Janeway outright expressing her love for Commander Chakotay. If there has been any outright mention of this please give episode on which it had happened.

Her only love should be for coffee.

thanks --Jimer024 08:17, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

In canon there is nothing more "outright" than what we mention in the articles, but non-canon works such as novels have explored the issue. I believe the alternate timeline story "Places of Exile" in Infinity's Prism has them married. - Archduk3 09:02, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, I guess I should have been a bit more specific. I was just just thinking about the TV show...and also only during lucid times and those of non alternate/parrallel timelines.--Jimer024 19:06, March 21, 2012 (UTC)
The writers used to so-called "URST" (Unresolved Sexual Tension) with the two characters. This is a very well-known thing in screenwriting, especially in case of television shows. In a series with a male and a female lead, it's almost always present. Some well-known examples: I Dream of Jeannie, The X-Files, The Nanny, Bones. It gives an extra vibration to the characters. Everyone knows that secretly they're in love with each other (or at least find each other sexually attractive), yet they'd never express it on the surface. This was the case of Janeway and Chakotay. It was only the fault of the untalented writers, that they've got Chakotay romanticizing with Seven of Nine, totally out of the blue (also destroying the mild one-sided URST between Seven and The Doctor). --Ltarex 20:28, March 21, 2012 (UTC)
