I did not know where to put this, but since it refers to several episodes all over trek, I put it here.
I believe we need to do something about clarifying the summaries for feature length episodes. We should have some way of distinguishing what appears in syndication, and what appears in the full version found on the DVDs. I was hoping to add some references to specific scenes in feature-length summaries, but realized how confusing it could be after reading some talk pages. Maybe we should have a pre-defined color of text for material which only appears in the full-length episode, or add some sort of italicized note before and after the material, stating that the material is only present in full-length format.
I do think this would help clear up a lot of confusion. Some articles, such as "The Way of the Warrior", already address this by putting notes in the background section, but I do think that we can do more than that so people don't have to read the background info to figure out what they won't see on the TV.
I don't know if this has been addressed before, but if it has not, what do you think about this idea. I'm not sure exactly how it would work (I personally try to catch the episode on TV, then compare it to my DVD copy), but I do think that this has some merit as a feature to be considered. --Nmajmani 01:18, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- The real problem there is... Spike edits differently than Space, which edits differently than whoever shows it in England, who... etc. I think that most of the feature length episodes indicate what was changed for the split (etc), but again, different stations edit differently. Hell, some speed up the episodes to fit more stuff and to avoid editing! -- Sulfur 01:21, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I know stations edit episodes, but I can't believe they speed them up! Thanks for the info. I don't think anyone would mind if I took the time to make adjustments to those episodes which do not address the 'problem' :). Thanks again --Nmajmani 01:27, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
