I noticed that recently four ten forward threads were deleted for the reason "no long term value." The new forum system makes deleting threads unnecessary. The reason for deleting old threads in the old system was to clean up the page and keep the text of inactive discussions from being repeatedly saved to the database. This is no longer a problem and I think all threads that are not nonsense should be kept. The following line should be removed from the introduction text in Ten Forward:

After a period of time, inactive discussions without any long-term value will be deleted from this page. A discussion that may be of use in the future for reference purposes may be moved to a different section (like the FAQ page), or added to the Ten Forward archive.

The deleted threads should also be restored. --Bp 04:58, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

No objections. I made the changes to the template. --Bp 10:56, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

I must have missed this, but at least now I know why there's no remaining link to the old TF archives on the TF page. I still think that discussions that can be moved to a more appropriate place (talk page) should be moved - and if only an empty page would remain, why not delete that. Of course, it is no longer necessary to archive content to another page. -- Cid Highwind 20:17, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
