When I first began reading Star Trek novels, there was a stand alone book about the crew's first voyage together. Unfortunatley, I cannot remember the title. I remember that the cover was solid blue with the title emblazoned across the front but no cover art. I aslo remember that it involved some sort of world ship whose inhabitants claimed that the ship stayed in one place, and it was the universe that moved. Another scene I remember from early in the book is Sulu winning a saber championship and commenting to himself that his opponent's family proabably had a copy of Sulu's father's book at home, an unread copy. Anyway, if anybody could refresh my memory as to the title, I would greatly appreciate it.
