Forrester-Trent Syndrome was a rare degenerative neurological disorder. The disease caused tremor on hands and could also cause severe seizures. If untreated, the disease could result in paralysis or death.
Forrester-Trent was a genetic disease and was usually inherited from the parents. However, some cases had been reported in which the disease was caused by a random mutation.
The gene causing the disease appears to be dominant, as only one of the parents must carry it.
According to Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion, the syndrome derived its name from "The Battle" scriptwriter Larry Forrester and from the lead vocalist of the rock band Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor.
