For other uses of the term, please see Nightingale.

Nightingale was a Human woman, who was primarily known for treating wounded soldiers on Earth's ancient battlefields.

In 2277, Harry Kim renamed the Kraylor Medical Transport 136 after Nightingale, since he believed at the time that it was carrying vital vaccines to the Kraylor homeworld. It later turned out this ship wasn't on a medical mission at all however, making it somewhat of a misnomer.

Nightingale's first name is Florence, but this was never mentioned in Star Trek and thus is non-canon. It seems unlikely that the poem "Nightingale Woman" was about Nightingale, as it was written on Canopus Planet in 1996, before Earth had interstellar travel or communications capacity.
