Travis was later writing a letter to his sister when he was discovered to have "died". Malcolm Reed discovered the unsent letter in his quarters, where Travis had mentioned in it to his sister that Captain Archer had canceled breakfast with him. (ENT: "Dead Stop")
Following Enterprise NX-01's encounter with a neutronic storm in 2152, Travis wrote his sister about the experience. Later, Travis' sister wrote their mother and spoke of "a close call with some kind of storm." He explained to his mother that "we ran into a small wavefront a few months ago. The crew had to squeeze into one of the nacelles for a couple of days." He added that his sister "probably made it sound worse than it was." (ENT: "The Catwalk", "Horizon")
