The Promellians were a warp-capable humanoid species, characterized by a midline cranial ridge that ran from the upper lip to the back of the head.
The Promellians were known to have been constantly at war. In the 14th century, they fought a devastating conflict with the Menthars that ended with the mutual annihilation of both species at the Battle of Orelious IX.

Promellian technology, though primitive by 24th century Federation standards, was notably effective and robust, capable of remaining functional for generations. They harnessed gravity waves, gamma-ray bursts, electromagnetic fields, thermal radiation, and nuclear fusion as energy sources. Promellian battle cruisers utilized Lang Cycle fusion engines and memory coils, which were a crude analog of isolinear optical chips.
The Promellians interred their dead in large necropolis complexes on various planets, including Lyrek. Such a necropolis contained numerous pyramids and monumental four-eyed statues, which housed automated drone defenses to deter grave robbers. (TNG: "Booby Trap"; DIS: "Under the Twin Moons")

Background information[]
While the appearance of the Promellians were not described in the script, it is of note that all of, or portions of, the Promellian makeup design was later for the Algolians, Rotciv, and Yint's species.
In scripted dialogue between Jean-Luc Picard and Data, which was later cut, it was revealed that early Federation starship designs were influenced by the Promellian design innovations. As an example, it took four attempts at tactical command design before the Federation was comparable, in the 23rd century, to the sophistication of the Promellian tactical display. Further references included that to their use of positron ducts that channeled power from one end of the ship to the other. [1]
The four-eyed defense statues in "Under the Twin Moons" bear little resemblance to the Promellians seen in "Booby Trap". It is unclear if this should be taken as abstract religious art, a variant Promellian ethnic group, or if the Promellians acquired the equipment from a different manufacturer.
