Special Features[]

Background information[]

  • CBS remastered the series in 1080p HD for this release, however the DVDs themselves feature the episodes in "enhanced-definition" 480p/24p. A high-definition release of "More Tribbles, More Troubles" was included on the TOS Season 2 Blu-ray in 2009, before a full Blu-ray release followed in 2016.
  • Some of the special features of this DVD were done by Andy Mangels who, for several years, did special features for other DVDs. He reflected, "When Paramount did the TAS series on DVD, I proposed to do the special features. They passed, but I did end up providing a lot of material they used for their set and documentary." [1]
  • The release artwork on the DVDs feature main characters of the series, in animated form, with the first disc featuring James T. Kirk, the second Spock, the third Montgomery Scott, and the fourth Leonard McCoy.
  • Incongruously, one section of the booklet refers once to Spock as "Dr. Spock".
  • This collection has four discs. The first two discs contain six episodes each, while the latter two contain five episodes each. The final disc also contains the Special Features. The episodes are placed in release order as opposed to production order, which is used by all previous releases.
