Unnamed Ekosians in a Nazi news broadcast on Ekos in 2268. (TOS-R: "Patterns of Force")
This clipping was not from an actual, historical newsreel, but rather from an as of yet unidentified American (propaganda) war movie, of which many were produced in the period 1941-1945. Showcasing a supposedly German Wehrmacht six-wheel drive truck (likely a movie-converted Dodge WC62/63 and arguably posing as the historic German "Krupp L2H143 "Protze" (Kfz. 69/70)") as well as a fantasy troop transport in the foreground – obviously a converted period truck and conceivably an attempt by the art department of the unidentified production to emulate the very distinctive German "Sd.Kfz. 6-11" half-track vehicle series – , the exact same two fantasy vehicles were also featured in the contemporary 1943 war movie, This Land is Mine.
Though an older set configuration (the set was hit by several fires over time, the last one on 15 May 1967
), the square is still recognizable as part of the famed "Little Europe
" standing backlot set of Universal Studios
(on which parts of This Land is Mine was also filmed), also used for several later
Star Trek: Voyager productions.
