Early USS Enterprise design concepts by Matt Jefferies (composite from The Art of Star Trek, p. 6 and Star Trek: The Magazine Volume 1, Issue 10, p. 28)

Apart from an influence on Michael Okuda and Gregory Jein's design of their Daedalus-class, it was also the foremost influence on Bill George's design of the Olympic-class. Note that at this stage the name Enterprise was not yet decided upon as the design is here named USS Independance
