FANtastic Media, originally named Star Trek: The Official Fan Club, Inc., was a company formed by Dan Madsen around 1986. The company published the Star Trek: The Official Fan Club Magazine (later Star Trek: Communicator) and the Star Wars Insider fan club magazine.

The Star Trek magazine began as a fanzine in 1979 before Paramount Pictures and Gene Roddenberry asked him to license the newsletter, which happened in 1982. Eventually, the Official Star Trek Fan Club had more than 100,000 subscribers.

On 22 December 2000, Wizards of the Coast purchased the Star Wars fan club and magazine from the company, and a few months later on 9 February 2001, Decipher acquired the rest of the company, including the Star Trek magazine and fan club.
