Eva's Kitchen was a 20th century Harlem restaurant owned by Mrs. Jackson. Among its offerings were homemade pies, potato salad, eggs, including scrambled eggs and steak and eggs, hot dogs, soup, a sunrise special, and an extensive blue plate special menu.
Its regulars included Jimmy, writer Benny Russell, and New York Giants baseball player Willie Hawkins. The latter two both at one point pursued Cassie, a waiter at the coffee shop. By 1953 she was firmly involved with Russell, and dreamed of buying the restaurant together with him after having a talk in which Mrs. Jackson made it clear that she was serious about retiring in the next few years.
