Dampf was born in Orange County, California and is the brother of actress Sarah Dampf.
His first on-screen role came when he was a mere fifteen days old as Danny DeVito's baby in the movie Junior (1994). He has appeared in a number of commercials and had a fairly prominent role as Will Pryor on the television show American Dreams during the course of its run between 2002 and 2005 (with James Read, Alicia Coppola, Virginia Madsen, Jessica Collins, and Megan Palmer). Among his projects on-screen are also Diane Keaton's comedy Hanging Up (2000), the action film Collateral Damage (2002, with Rick Worthy, Raymond Cruz, and Michael Cavanaugh), and the television series Daddio (2000, episode Grapefruits of Wrath), Judging Amy (2001, episode Imbroglio, with Julie Cobb, Bahni Turpin, Vyto Ruginis, and John Pyper-Ferguson), Oh Baby, and Sunset Beach.
