Erin Hansen (played by Laura Stepp) was a Human scientist and explorer, the wife of Magnus Hansen and mother of Annika Hansen.
She and her husband petitioned the United Federation of Planets Exobiology Council to grant them the use of a ship which they could use pursue their theories about the Borg. Contact with the Collective had not yet been made so their theories were treated with skepticism.
They travelled as far out as the Delta Quadrant occasionally visited Borg Cubes in person, using technology to mask their presence. However, when this technology failed in 2354, the Hansens, including Annika, were quickly assimilated. (VOY : "Dark Frontier")
