Eden is a mythic planet with many names across alien cultures, and is said to be the location from which all creation sprang.

In 2269, Dr. Sevrin and his followers went in search of a planet, believed to be Eden, located in Romulan space, near the Neutral Zone. It was the subject of legends which told of an idyllic planet where people could live as one with nature. After failing to find the planet with the space cruiser Aurora, the group hijacked the USS Enterprise and found the planet. All vegetation on the planet was acid-laced and proved to be toxic to humanoid life. Sevrin and one of his followers, Adam, died from eating the poisonous fruit; the rest of his followers were seriously injured from acid burns. (TOS: "The Way to Eden")

Identical images of the Enterprise in orbit of Eden would also mistakenly be used in the same episode as the location of the starbase the ship later transported the surviving "followers" to.

A false Eden

Sybok believed it to exist beyond the Great Barrier at the center of the galaxy. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) While it is equally conceivable that the deadly planet, visited by Sevrin and his followers, might have been the homeword of the extinct alien race that left a holographic recording behind within the DNA of several different planetary biospheres. (TNG: "The Chase")
