Template:Realworld Don M. Mankiewicz (20 January 1922 – 25 April 2015; age 93) was a German-born American screenwriter and novelist who wrote the story for the original series episode "Court Martial". He also co-wrote the teleplay with Steven W. Carabatsos.

He and fellow screenwriter Nelson Gidding earned an Academy Award nomination for their work on the screenplay for the 1958 film, I Want to Live! This film was directed by Robert Wise and featured Theodore Bikel in the cast.

Mankiewicz also earned Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Drama for the pilot episodes of Ironside and Marcus Welby, M.D. He went on to write further episodes for both shows, and also wrote episodes for other programs such as One Step Beyond, Mannix, and MacGyver.

He was the son of screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz, who co-wrote the 1941 classic Citizen Kane with director Orson Welles, and won a shared Academy Award for the film. Robert Wise was the editor of Citizen Kane.

Mankiewicz died of congestive heart failure at his home in Monrovia, California, on 25 April 2015. He was 93. [1]
