Between 1996 and 2000, Ridley attended Bishops College and is fluent in English, German, and Afrikaans. Between 2003 and 2005 he worked as on set production shoot coordinator for several commercials and in 2005 as client liaison on the thriller Blood Diamond.
He then worked as visual effects coordinator and data wrangler on projects such as the adventure 10,000 BC (2008), the fantasy comedy Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010), the drama Shanghai (2010), the fantasy drama Hereafter (2010), the comedy Gulliver's Travels (2010, editing by Maryann Brandon), the comedies Johnny English Reborn (2011) and Dark Shadows (2012, with Kathryn Leigh Scott), the fantasy film Snow White and the Huntsman (2012, starring Chris Hemsworth), the sequel Kick-Ass 2 (2013), the crime drama Closed Circuit (2013, starring Eric Bana), the adventure 47 Ronin (2013), the fantasy film Maleficent (2014), the science fiction film Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and the comic adaptation Guardians of the Galaxy (2014, with Zoe Saldana, Gregg Henry, Stan Lee, and Stephen Blackehart).
