Derek Steven Johnson (born 20 September 1982; age 35) is an actor, stand-in, photo double, and stunt man who served as the stand-in for Karl Urban (Dr. McCoy) in 2009's Star Trek. [1] He was born in Concord, Michigan, and holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Michigan state University: one in English with a specialization in Film Studies and another in Telecommunications with a specialization in Digital Media Arts and Technologies from Michigan State University.

Johnson was a stand-in for Zachary Quinto, the actor who plays Spock in Star Trek, in the 17 November 2008 episode of the NBC television series Heroes. For the 2007 Monday Night Football promotional advertisement for the film Hitman, Johnson was a stand-in for star Timothy Olyphant, who was up for a role in Star Trek. Johnson has also worked as a stand-in for such actors as Michael Steger (on the TV shows Criminal Minds and 90210), Russell Brand (for the film Bedtime Stories), and John C. McGinley (in "The Commish" commercials for Miller Lite).

Johnson was Sliders star Jerry O'Connell's stand-in in the upcoming film Obsessed. Johnson also had an acting role in this film, playing an assistant to a character portrayed by Star Trek: Voyager guest star Bruce McGill. Johnson has an acting role in the upcoming film Manure, as well, in addition to performing stunts for the film.
