(written from a Production point of view)

Dennis C. Ott (13 June 19583 November 1994; age 36) was an actor and stuntman who appeared in two Star Trek films.

Ott's first Star Trek film appearance was Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, in which he played a Klingon, while his second was as an alien in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. According to Ott, who stood 6'11" (2.1 m), his proudest moment was when actor William Shatner told him: "You're one of the tall people in this town who can actually act." ('Dennis Ott, movie actor, dead at 36', Times-Advocate [Escondido, CA], 5 November 1994, p. 14.)

He appeared in several movies, mostly in bit parts. Because of his height of 6'11" he is easy to spot in productions in which he had performed. Among the other films in which he appeared are Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (1989, co-starring David Graf, Arthur Batanides, Gerrit Graham, Darryl Henriques, Kenneth Mars, and Matt McCoy), Road House (1989, with Anthony De Longis, Tiny Ron, Marshall R. Teague, and Kevin Tighe), The Doors (with Titus Welliver), and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991, with Roy Brocksmith and William Sadler).

After discovering he had AIDS in 1990, Ott spent the last four years of his life speaking as an activist about the disease, before succumbing to it in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1994. [1]
