(written from a Production point of view)
Dennis Bradford is one of the many art directors who worked on 2009's Star Trek, directed and produced by J.J. Abrams. He previously worked with Abrams (and many other members of the Star Trek production team) on the 2006 film, Mission: Impossible III.
His earliest film projects were 1986's No Mercy (featuring Bruce McGill) as a draftsman and 1987's From the Hip (featuring Ray Walston) as an art director. He then worked as an assistant art director on such films as the popular 1988 western Young Guns (featuring Terry O'Quinn and Brian Keith), Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing (1989, featuring John Savage), 1992's The Last of the Mohicans (featuring Colm Meaney) and 1993's Sommersby (starring William Windom).
Bradford was the second unit art director on 1990's Ghost, starring Whoopi Goldberg. As a senior art director, Bradford's credits include the films Billy Bathgate (1991), Lorenzo's Oil (1992), Six Degrees of Separation (1993, featuring Bruce Davison), Money Train (1995), The Devil's Advocate (1997), Deep Impact (1998, featuring James Cromwell, Denise Crosby, Tucker Smallwood, Kurtwood Smith, and Concetta Tomei), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999, featuring Fritz Weaver), Shaft (2000, starring Vanessa Williams), and Hide and Seek (2005, starring Famke Janssen).
Bradford has worked on several movies starring cast members from 2009's Star Trek. He was an assistant art director on the 2005 comedy Guess Who, in which Zoe Saldana (Uhura) played the female lead. He then became an art director on the 2006 romantic comedy Just My Luck, which starred Chris Pine (James T. Kirk). More recently, Bradford headed art direction on the 2008 CBS mini-series Comanche Moon, starring Karl Urban.
In addition to being an art director, Bradford has headed art departments as Production Designer on the films Rollerball (2002, featuring Lucia Rijker) and Basic (2003). He most recently did set design work for the upcoming film Bolden!
