Dennis Michael Blakey (born 2 May 1966; age 57) is a digital visual effects artist. He worked on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine first season episode "Emissary", while in the employ of VisionArt Design & Animation. His most noticeable contribution as Animation Director, was the signature design and construction of the CGI morphing effect of Odo, first featured in the pilot episode. He made a short appearance in the documentary, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Behind the Scenes, explaining some of the work he has done. His only Star Trek contribution to date, the episode did win him an Emmy Award as " Morphing Designer" in the category "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Special Visual Effect", which he shared with Robert Legato, Gary Hutzel, and Michael Dallas Gibson (the Rhythm & Hues digital artist who designed the Bajoran wormhole).

Shortly thereafter, around the end of 1993, Blakey left VisionArt, to join newly formed Digital Domain, in whose employ he has remained ever since. At Digital Domain he has worked on among others, Apollo 13 (1995), Dante's Peak (1997) and The Fifth Element (1997), as well as the Disney films Dinosaur (2000) and Home on the Range (2004), but was not part of the company's involvement in Star Trek Nemesis or Star Trek. His most recent work has been as effects animator on the productions 2012 (2009), Tron: Legacy (2010), Thor (2011), as well as Iron Man 3 (2013).
