Zefram Cochrane, 2119

Zephram Cochrane's dedication ceremony speech

A dedication ceremony was a formal event that celebrated the opening of an institution.

In 2119, Zefram Cochrane delivered a speech at the dedication ceremony for the Warp Five Complex, which went in part, "On this site, a powerful engine will be built. An engine that will someday help us travel a hundred times faster than we can today. Imagine it. Thousands of inhabited planets at our fingertips. And we'll be able to explore those strange new worlds and seek out new life and new civilizations. This engine will let us go boldly where no man has gone before."

In 2151, Maxwell Forrest played a portion of his speech just prior to Enterprise NX-01's maiden voyage. (ENT: "Broken Bow")

In 2270, James T. Kirk represented the Federation at the dedication ceremony for the Academy of Science on Deneb V. (TAS: "The Pirates of Orion")
