Dax, son of Kang, was the namesake and godson of Curzon Dax, born some time in the late 2280s. Curzon felt it an incredible honor to be nominated as the godfather of a Klingon child, at a time when relations between the Klingon Empire and the Federation were still quite hostile.
The young boy Dax was murdered by the Albino in 2290, when he was infected by a slow-acting genetic virus, as revenge for Kang's part in a devastating raid against the Albino's forces. Kang and Curzon, along with Kor and Koloth (whose sons had also been murdered) together swore a blood oath to avenge these deaths.
A funeral was later held for Dax. The event made a lasting impression on Curzon Dax, as well as Jadzia Dax. (DS9: "Blood Oath")
Dax's mother was probably Mara, who appeared in TOS: "Day of the Dove".
According to the novel Forged in Fire, his name was spelled "DaqS", and his mother was, indeed, Mara.
