David Mattey (born 5 November 1969; age 54) is a former stuntman and stunt actor who played an Orion guard in the Star Trek: Enterprise fourth season episode "Borderland". His make-up and airbrush color for his Orion costume was done by Brad Look and Steven E. Anderson.

Mattey was born in Rochester, New York, is a graduate of the Virginia Tech, and is the cousin of actor John Mattey. Because of his height of 6'10" (208 cm) it's easy to spot him. He is also a stage actor, in stage plays such as "Of Mice and Men" and "Hamlet", and stand-up comedian and is one of the founding members of the comedy group "Small, Medium, Large". As a stuntman he has also worked on several live stunt shows such as "Waterworld" (2003-2006) at the Universal Studios.

In 2003 he was honored with a Citation Award at the Abilene WESTfest for outstanding special effects in the film Black Gulch (2003, with Time Winters).

His resume includes films such as Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000, with Kathleen Wirt), Paper Doll (2003), Berserker (2005), House of the Dead 2 (2005), The Last Sentinel (2007), and Lonely Street (2007, with Nikki Cox, Mike Starr, and Ellen Albertini Dow).

Mattey has also guest starred and performed stunts in television series such as Another World (1998-1999), Angel (2003, with Leland Crooke), E-Ring (2005, with Camille Saviola and Ned Vaughn), The District, Joey (2005, with Boni Yanagisawa and stunts by Peewee Piemonte), Monk, and Charmed (2005 & 2006, with Elizabeth Dennehy, Glenn Morshower, and Leland Crooke).

More recently, Mattey portrayed the Man Mountain in the superhero movie Hancock (2008, along Elizabeth Dennehy, Gregg Daniel, Jack Axelrod, and stunts by Robin Bonaccorsi, Eddie Braun, Charlie Brewer, Stacey Carino, Doug Coleman, Eliza Coleman, Shauna Duggins, Justin Rodgers Hall, Terry Jackson, Hubie Kerns, Jr., Theo Kypri, Rob Mars, Heidi Moneymaker, Michael Papajohn, Paul Sklar, and Xuyen Valdivia), Strange Wilderness (2008), and as stunt double in Get Smart (2008, with Dwayne Johnson). Among his current projects are the family adventure Jack and the Beanstalk (2008, with Christopher Lloyd and Daniel Roebuck), Lonely Street (2008, with Nikki Cox and Ellen Albertini Dow), the horror comedy Blood Shot (2009, with Brad Dourif, Michael Bailey Smith, and Troy Brenna), Charlie Valentine (2009, with Matthias Hues and Kevin Scott Allen), the drama Glass Houses (2008), and as visual effects coordinator, post production coordinator, editor, and actor in the drama The Steamroom (2008).

Suffering different symptoms since 2020, Mattey has been unable to work on set since 2022. He was diagnosed with a form of Amyloidosis which bounds him to a wheelchair. [1] [2] Among his last work is The Book of Boba Fett episode "Chapter 1: Stranger in a Strange Land" (2021, with Dawn Dininger, Tim Rigby, and Nico Woulard), the drama Delicate State (2021, with Glenn Morshower), and the comedy Back to Lyla (2022).
