David Lee Smith (born 8 September 1963; age 60) is the actor who played Zahir in the Star Trek: Voyager third season episode "Darkling".

During his early television career, Smith worked primarily on daytime soap operas, having made recurring appearances on As the World Turns, All My Children, and One Life to Live. Smith would go on to have a recurring role on Pacific Blue (working with the likes of David L. Lander and Robin Sachs), the NBC sitcom The Naked Truth (five episodes, including one with David Huddleston and one with Kenneth Mars), and NBC drama Providence (with Tim Kelleher, Tim Ransom, and Michael Reilly Burke). He has also made single appearances on shows such as Dharma & Greg, Just Shoot Me!, V.I.P., JAG (two episodes – one in 1998 with James Ingersoll, Sara Mornell, and James Parks; another in 2001 with Sam Hennings, Billy Mayo, and Jennifer Savidge), and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (two episodes – "The Execution of Catherine Willows" (2002) with Wayne Péré and Wade Andrew Williams and "What's Eating Gilbert Grissom (2004) with Mark Lentry, Wallace Langham and Dan Warner ). Both also featured Victor Bevine.

In addition to his television work, Smith has been seen in such films as Fight Club (1999, featuring David Andrews, Tim de Zarn, Zach Grenier, Michael Shamus Wiles, and Matt Winston), A Walk to Remember (2002, also with David Andrews), and Mysterious Skin (2004, with Richard Riehle). In the 2002 film Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Smith played the younger version of James Garner's character, who was the father of the character played by Star Trek: The Next Generation guest actress Ashley Judd. Fionnula Flanagan also starred in this film.

In 2007, Smith had a role in Zodiac from Fight Club director David Fincher. Smith's Fight Club co-stars (and fellow Trek actors) Zach Grenier and Matt Winston also appear in this film, as does John Carroll Lynch, J. Patrick McCormack, and Thomas Kopache.

In December 2007, Smith starred in the critically acclaimed film adaptation of Jerome Bixby's The Man from Earth, co-starring John Billingsley, Richard Riehle, and Tony Todd.

From 2003 to 2010, Smith had a recurring role as IAB Sergeant Rick Stetler on the hit CBS series CSI: Miami. During his time on this series, Smith appeared with such Trek veterans as Ed Begley, Jr., Alan Dale, Galyn Görg, Dina Meyer, Rudolf Martin, Kevin McCorkle, Sterling Macer, Jr., and Holmes R. Osborne.
