Gul Darhe'el was the Cardassian commander of the Gallitep labor camp on Bajor during the Occupation of Bajor in 2357. Due to his brutal behavior and his mistreatment of Bajoran laborers, he was nicknamed the "Butcher of Gallitep". During the mining accident at Gallitep, he was on Cardassia to receive the Proficient Service Medallion.

He died in his sleep in 2363 from a coleibric hemorrhage and was buried underneath one of Cardassia's largest monuments. Amongst those present at his funeral was Gul Dukat.

In 2369, Aamin Marritza, a Cardassian file clerk, impersonated Darhe'el, hoping to be punished for not opposing the crimes committed during the occupation of Bajor. (DS9: "Duet")
