Danilo

Based out of Waltham Abbey, UK, Danilo Promotions Limited is a leading British officially licensed calendar publisher.

The family business started in the late '70s following the death of Elvis Presley, when Danilo decided to celebrate Elvis' life with a calendar, and thus started a celebrity calendar line. Danilo's product range grew to include the biggest names in music, entertainment, TV, and film, which includes very succesfull outings from Star Trek's rival franchise Star Wars. Danilo later expanded into sports titles, glamour, and more recently, greeting cards.

The Star Trek license[]

In 2013, Danilo acquired a sub-license from Universe Publishing (who themselves had acquired it from Pocket Books the year previously) to produce Star Trek calendars and related assorted products for the UK and the Commonwealth markets. A common feature for the Danillo Star Trek wall calendars is the lack of a centerfold, contrary those of its Universe Publishing licensor.

No 2021 Star Trek calendars were released by Danilo, conceivably because of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic crisis, though Star Wars wall calendars were released for that year, as that franchise was riding high on the breakout success of its first live-action television series The Mandalorian. And while a 2022 Star Trek Official Calendar did become released eventually, no mention was made of a potential 2022 Ships of the Line calendar on the company website. It remains yet to be seen whether or not the suspension of the Ships of the Line series has become permanent.
