Summary

Teaser

Medical log, Stardate 47879.2. Major Kira and I have completed installation of the hospital facility at New Bajor- the first Bajoran colony in the Gamma Quadrant -- and are on our way home.

As Kira and Julian Bashir make their way back to the station, they finally find a common link between them, they both enjoy the music of Tor, a Bajoran musician. Bashir has made a point of the listening to Bajoran music since he was assigned to Deep Space Nine. As their runabout drops out of warp, a problem occurs- the warp field has not collapsed properly. The ship enters the wormhole and is engulfed in a white flash. As they exit the Bajoran wormhole in its Alpha Quadrant terminus, they are shocked to see that the station is not there, it is in orbit of Bajor. Suddenly, the ships sensors detect another ship moving towards them, it is Klingon. Two Klingon officers beam onboard and are shocked to see Kira. Later, on Terok Nor, the two Klingons confer with a Cardassian, it is Garak. Bashir and Kira board the station where they get a shock, as another Kira Nerys introduces herself...

Background Information

  • This episode was originally to be titled "Detour".
  • It is revealed that Spock's meeting with James T. Kirk changed his attitude towards the Terran Empire. He became its leader and instituted major reforms, turning the Empire into a more peaceful and less aggressive power. This lead to the Empire being unprepared to fight the united Klingon-Cardassian Alliance.
