"Creature" was a term which described an unknown lifeform, different in appearance.

In his commencement address at Princeton in 2063, Zefram Cochrane called the Borg "cybernetic creatures from the future." (ENT: "Regeneration")

Sub-Commander T'Pol once suggested that Phlox could place his creatures together in their cages but Phlox told her they would eat each other. (ENT: "The Catwalk")

Doctor Phlox later also used the word "creature" to describe what he didn't wish to turn into following his assimilation. (ENT: "Regeneration")

The Bajoran mythology called the Dal'Rok a "mythical energy creature". (DS9: "The Storyteller")

In the revised final draft script of TOS: "Balance of Terror", Romulan officer Decius referenced the term "creature". He specifically imagined the Enterprise desperately trying to escape from a Romulan Bird-of-Prey he was serving on, likening that to "a field creature [fleeing] from a hunting bird."
In a stage direction from the revised final draft script of TOS: "What Are Little Girls Made Of?", the word "creature" was used to refer to Ruk, as he was characterized as a "half-Human creature." [1]
