The Coridan system was an inhabited star system. A planet in this system, Coridan, was the homeworld for the Coridans, a warp-capable humanoid species. Other planets in this system were colonized by this species prior to 2151.

In 2151 Captain Archer and T'Pol visited Coridan, were captured by rebels, and were freed by Andorian agents, including Thy'lek Shran. (ENT: "Shadows of P'Jem").

Prior to the Babel Conference of 2268, the Coridan system was claimed by some Federation races, and there were reports by Starfleet Intelligence that Orion smugglers had been raiding the system. After the conference, the Coridan planets were admitted to the United Federation of Planets. The system was located near to the planets Orion and Vulcan, and several unidentified neutral worlds. (TOS: "Journey to Babel"; DS9: "In the Cards"; ENT: "Demons")

In 2373, Kandra Vilk moved from Deep Space 9 to a neutral planet near the Coridan system because of the impending war with the Dominion. (DS9: "In the Cards")

The Coridan system was a target of Jem'Hadar raids during the Dominion War due to its importance as a source of dilithium, even though it was not on the front lines. (DS9: "One Little Ship")

"CORE-ah-don" was the pronunciation for this planet's name from the script pronunciation guide for "Sarek". [1]
In a deleted scene from Star Trek Into Darkness, a news feed announced that Magustav Pachangara became the new chancellor of Coridan. Information on this planet appeared in a powerwall in the office of Admiral Alexander Marcus. [2]
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 45, 60, "United Federation of Planets I"), the Coridan (or Chi 1 Orionis) system was located in or near Federation space. This was a trinary star system. Coridan A was a G-class star with a magnitude of +3, which was ten times brighter than Sol. Coridan B and Coridan C were both G-class stars.
