Background information[]

  • On the title for the anthology, editor Palmieri noted: "The anthology's title relates to Star Trek's elevation in the last four decades to a kind of living pop-culture mythology. Constellations, after all, represent classic tales in the night sky – mythic stories strewn across the galaxy. What more appropriate name for a new collection of original Trek fiction?" (Star Trek Magazine issue 128)
  • This collection also included an excerpt from the story "Anything But Alone" by writer Joshua Ortega and artist Gregory Giovanni Johnson that was featured in its entirety in the Star Trek manga book Shinsei Shinsei. That release also featured the "First, Do No Harm" prose story from this collection.
  • In the story "Devices and Desires", the planet killer is taken to "The Yard", a top secret facility where the alien technology Starfleet has acquired is stored and studied. One of its researchers was Dr. Pad, which is a reference to Peter (Allen) David.
  • In the novel's inner title page, the fifth city listed under Pocket Books is Meekrab, a town on Denebia.
