Columbus detail

On the Hangar Deck

The Columbus (NCC-17012) was a Class F shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Enterprise in the 2260s.

The Columbus participated in the search for the lost shuttlecraft Galileo on Taurus II in 2267. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven")

In 2268, the shuttle Columbus was in the shuttlebay when the Galileo transporting Ambassador Sarek and his entourage landed. (TOS: "Journey to Babel")

The Columbus was a reuse of the footage of the Galileo. It was named after 15th/16th century Earth explorer Christopher Columbus.
The Columbus was later created as a CGI by CBS Digital. First appearance of this model occurred in "The Journey to Babel" when the Galileo landed in the Enterprise shuttlebay. The registry of the shuttle is seen in this episode.
