A climbing tree was any tree used by Humans on Earth for climbing.
In 2258 of the alternate reality, Montgomery Scott rebuked his assistant Keenser for climbing onto the transporter machinery in Shuttle 78072. Scott told him that it wasn't a climbing tree and ordered him off the machinery. (Star Trek)
