Following his story pitch for Deep Space Nine, Ford and Soffer wrote the screenplay for the fantasy comedy Kazaam (1996, with actors Randall Bosley, Bob Clendenin, Michael Wajacs, and Larry Clardy) and the story for the thriller Slow Burn (2000) which was also Ford's directorial debut. The two also wrote the story for the 2005 television science fiction film Category 7: The End of the World, the second episode of the television mini series Merlin's Apprentice (2006), and the television science fiction/horror film Final Days of Planet Earth (2006). On Merlin's Apprentice and Final Days of Planet Earth, Ford also worked as associate producer.
