The character Admiral Black was apparently named after him by Mike Sussman in recognition for the writer's naming of Suus Mahna, an ancient Vulcan martial arts.
He was previously a writer and producer on the science fiction television series Sliders. He currently writes episodes for the hit drama Desperate Houswives, on which Teri Hatcher stars.
Black also co-wrote the story for the 1997 film Masterminds. Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Patrick Stewart was the star of this film.
