Chalna was an inhabited planet. The planet was located in the Alpha Quadrant. The atmosphere was capable of supporting humanoid lifeforms. This was the homeworld for the Chalnoth, an anarchistic humanoid species.
While commanding the USS Stargazer in 2354, Captain Jean-Luc Picard visited Chalna. He recalled his visit there to Esoqq when they were imprisoned together twelve years later. (TNG: "Allegiance")
Chalna also appeared in the starchart Data and Picard were studying in the Enterprise-D's stellar cartography department in 2371. (Star Trek Generations, display graphic)
