  • This was the first novel to be released by Titan Books in Britain, but the 32nd to be released by Pocket Books in the US.
  • A sequel to this book was published as #43, The Final Nexus.
  • At one point in the novel, Captain Kirk comments that the Enterprise phasers can't be set to stun, contradicting the episode "A Piece of the Action".
