Chad Taylor is a visual effects artist working in the SABRE department of Industrial Light & Magic, where he composites effects shots of featuring films utilizing Inferno visual effects software as well as ILM proprietary software. He has worked on over fifty film projects since joining ILM in 1994, including Star Trek: First Contact and, according to the Internet Movie Database, 2009's Star Trek.
Taylor's first project for ILM was the 1994 Academy Award-winning film Forrest Gump, on which he was an Associate Digital Compositor. Taylor joined the company's SABRE team with his very next film, the 1994 effects-laded action-comedy, The Mask. Since then, his work as a SABRE (or Inferno) artist has included Mission: Impossible (1996), Titanic (1997), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Galaxy Quest (1999), Pearl Harbor (2001), Jurassic Park III (2001, featuring Linda Park), Planet of the Apes (2001), Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), The Bourne Supremacy (2004, featuring Karl Urban), Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), War of the Worlds (2005), Munich (2005, starring Eric Bana), and the special editions of the three original Star Wars films. In 2004 Taylor and Geoff Heron were nominated by Visual Effects Society for their work in the film Van Helsing.
In addition to the above, Taylor's work for ILM includes sequence supervisor and development lead for Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002), sequence supervision on the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels Dead Man's Chest (2006) and At World's End (2007), and digital artwork for There Will Be Blood (2007, featuring cinematography by Robert Elswit) and two films starring Bruce Greenwood: 2008's Eight Below and 2007's National Treasure: Book of Secrets. His most recent effects work can be seen in the 2008 blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
