Marine mammals refers to a class of mammals that live primarily in and around the ocean. Examples of marine mammals would include Pacific bottlenose dolphins, Humpback Whales, Takaya's Whales, seals and sea-lions.
Some kinds of marine mammals are sometimes carried on board large Federation starships such as the Galaxy class. (TNG : "The Perfect Mate", "Yesterday's Enterprise")
