Category:Novel seriesEdit

Okay, I've created this category as suggested at the suggestion page, but before going around and changing/adding a whole bunch of categories, I just wanted to make sure that it was being used right. It's supposed to be for series of novels, so that will cover "A Time to...", "New Frontier" and the like, while the Novels category will be for individual books. That said... should "Novel series" be a sub-cat of "Novels", or should it be vice-versa? --From Andoria with Love 07:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

I would say "Novel series" should be a sub-cat of "Novels"; all members of "Novel series" are members of "Novels", but not all members of "Novels" are members of "Novel series". Yes? -- Renegade54 15:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, it depends whether we consider things like Pocket DS9 a "novel series". If so, then yes, all novels are part of series. :) -- Sulfur 15:04, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
They are pretty much independent forms of categorization. Is "novel series" a novel? No. Is "novel" a "novel series"? No. It only might make some sense as a "related category", in which case "novel series" should be a subcat of "novels", but not the other way around. -- Cid Highwind 16:10, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Alrighty then, it shall remain a sub-cat of Novels. I'll add some more series to the category later (unless someone beats me to it). --From Andoria with Love 00:55, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Initial suggestion Edit

Novel series Edit

I'm not familiar enough with the way the novels are laid out, but similar to the TV series category (if we have one), this would be for the "big picture" articles that contain the list of novels. Possibly even subcategories for individual novel series if there are enough of them to justify a new category. --Vedek Dukat Talk | Duty Roster 07:44, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Support, though since the TV series only have the "Star Trek" category on them, maybe just make it a more generic "Series" category? - AJ Halliwell 09:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Support, but I think this should be a sub-cat of "novels", itself a sub-cat of "Star Trek". --From Andoria with Love 07:48, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
