A carnivore was a lifeform with a diet consisting mainly of meat, whether from animals living or dead. Examples included the carnivorous rastipod, the Kzinti and the Mugato. (DS9: "Progress"; TAS: "The Slaver Weapon"; TOS: "A Private Little War")
In 2151, T'Pol referred to Humans as "impulsive carnivores." (ENT: "Broken Bow")
Despite this, Humans were also described as omnivores, in The Slaver Weapon
In his 2369 Ode to Spot, Data noted that Spot was an "endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature." (TNG: "Schisms")
